You may wonder, "Why should it matter to me if my builder is a member of the local builders' association?" The reason is twofold. First of all, the association will not tolerate unethical behavior and have membership standards that ensure you're working with a true professional and one who is committed to the industry. Secondly, the builders’ association provides educational opportunities to its members. This ensures that the builder you are working with is up to date on all the current housing industry information, trends, and changes.
West Michigan Association of Home Builders
I have been a member of the HBA of West Michigan since Maplewood was founded in 1996. I have served as Vice-President and also as President for two terms. I am on the Parade of Homes Committee and help plan our annual Parade of Homes in June.
National Association of Home Builders
The National Association of Home Builders is comprised of over 800 local and state associations. It is the largest and best resource available to educate yourself as a home builder. They organize the International Builders Show each year as a way for builders to see what's new and take classes to enhance their knowledge and skill.
